THE FANBOY EDIT

A "new" film created from BAtman v Superman

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice certainly was a divisive film! I think most could agree that it was at least ambitious. There was so much going on that I became fascinated with it's potential for a re-edit, especially with the release of the Ultimate Edition. What started as an obsessive attempt to add music from the Arkham Origins game and The Dark Knight Returns animated film to the BvS action scenes ended with me going through the entire film cut-by-cut, using the parts to create a self-contained smaller story of a brutal Batman pushed to the edge of his crumbling morality.

I've restructured most scenes and dialogue, added Batman music by Christopher Drake, various Hans Zimmer songs and audio cues, as well as some epic classical tracks to expand the concept of "mythical gods and heroes". I've removed the whole "Martha" element from the Batman and Superman fight, changed the character dynamics of Lex Luthor and Wonder Woman, trimmed tons of fat from the edit as well as scenes and story points that didn't have much to do with the main Batman narrative. Above all, I wanted to inject a revitalizing sense of fun into the whole experience, something often criticized about the original film.

The goal was to create a film experience featuring the Dark Knight that you could enjoy with or without BvS in mind and one that, in it's own right, would work as a prequel to the upcoming Justice League film. It's far from perfect and isn't meant to replace Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but if you're looking for an alternative or just curious about what can be done with the material, check it out below and I hope you'll enjoy watching this epic adventure as much as I did making it!
